Three Simple, Yet Common, Décor Mistakes People Make

Re-decorating your home can be fun and rewarding, but it can also be stressful if you aren’t prepared.  Some people have big ideas about how they want their new rooms to look, but sometimes their ideas end up working better on paper than they do in their home.  If you’re going to be taking on a big redecorating project in your home, make sure you don’t make these common mistakes.
Using special toilet rugs in bathrooms
It’s pretty common for home owners to want to cover up some of the cold tile in their bathroom with large rugs.  Bathroom rugs can make the floor warmer and add a splash of color to your bathroom, but if you want to keep that rug for a while you should avoid buying rugs that are cut to fit snuggly around the toilet.  If your toilet overflows or leaks your rug will be ruined pretty quickly.  If you want a rug for your bathroom, look for a regular throw rug you can place away from the toilet.
Ignoring your foyer
If you have a home with a bare foyer, you’re missing out on some prime décor space.  The foyer is the first area your guests will see when they enter your home, and the space can be used to make a major décor statement.  You don’t want to add too many décor pieces to the area, all of them together could take up too much space and leave little room for your guests.  Think about painting an accent wall, hanging a picture, or using a potted plant or table to make a fresh look.
Using out of place décor schemes
The rest of your house may be subtly decorated, but you’ve always wanted to have at least one room that’s decorated with eye popping colors and flashy décor pieces.  That room may add a little “fun” to your home, but it will also look very out of place in comparison to the rest of your house.  Instead of making one room stand out, gradually add smaller décor elements to other places of the house to make your theme more unified.
