People can get the urge to redecorate their home from
seemingly out of nowhere. When some
people feel the need to make an interior décor change they jump right into
finding paint samples and buying new furniture.
Others choose not to do anything because they think that their budget
won't allow it. Decorating your home on
a budget may seem difficult, but there are a lot of things you can do to make
the process easier on your wallet. If
you're ready for a décor change, but need to stick on a budget, follow these
easy and inexpensive home décor tips.
Paint
A new coat of paint can do wonders to change the look of a
room, and it's absolutely essential for anybody who is decorating on a strict
budget. Paint and painting supplies are
relatively inexpensive in comparison to other home decorating projects. It's something you can easily do without a
professional, and if you're fast you can have a whole new look for your room
after a few hours of work.
Look for alternative merchandise
That brand new leather sofa that's advertised in your local
furniture store may be out of your price range, but the floor model you're
looking at may not be. You can save a
lot of money redecorating if you're okay with buying furniture on floor display
or buying slightly damaged merchandise.
The "slightly damaged" label doesn't mean that something is
broken beyond use. A cabinet door with a
squeaky hinge or black
rugs were made with a slightly off color dye can earn the label. Ask the store manager if they have any
"as is" merchandise, and see if there's an item with minor damage
they're willing to part with.
Get family and friends involved
Your friends and loved ones can help save you a lot of money
on home decorating costs. Instead of
hiring a crew to rip out your old carpet, save money and ask a few friends for
help. If you have friends with carpentry
and painting skills, ask for their help instead of hiring someone to do it for
you. You should also see if anyone you
know if looking to get rid of furniture and décor items you can use.
Repurpose old items
You don't have buy brand new furniture if you want a décor
change. You can easily modify some items
you already have to fit your décor style.
If you don't like the current color of your couch you don't have to buy
a new one. A new slip cover can give you
the décor change you need without having to spend hundreds of dollars on a new
piece of furniture. Instead of buying a
new end table, add a new coat of varnish and make it look like new again.
