Frugal Home Décor: Redecorating With Rugs

Spring is the official season of renewal, but if you ask some people they'll say that they feel energized and ready for changes each fall.  Maybe it's the changing leaves or perhaps it's because we see kids starting their school year, but either way there's just something about autumn that says "change".  In this season of change you may feel the need to do some redecorating in your house, but if you're short on cash you may feel reluctant to make any major changes.  It's possible for you to change the look of a room without doing a lot of work, a few oriental rugs or accent rug can transform any room in your home.

Oriental Rug

Traditionally an oriental rug was a rug that was from the Orient (Eastern-Asian countries like Turkey, Maghreb, Iran, India), but today the name refers to any handmade carpet that is either knotted with pile or woven without pile.  Oriental rugs became wildly popular in the UK and other western countries in the latter half of the 19th century when trade and transportation improved.  Oriental rugs have beautifully elaborate patterns and designs and are also known for their high quality.  An oriental rug could add a touch of class and style to any room, and it'll have the added benefit of being a soft and silky carpet for your feet to enjoy.

Dhurrie Rug

Dhurrie rugs are made in India, but they've recently become a popular home décor item in the west.  These thick, flat-woven rugs typically come in a variety of color combinations, but pastel color combinations seem to be the most popular color choice.  These rugs can be decorated with floral patterns, animals, geometric shapes, and even humans.  This kind of rug tends to easily fit in well with other home décor themes, so this could be the perfect rug for your home.

Inlaid Rug

If you're an artistic or creative person, choosing an inlaid rug to spice up a room could be your best decorating choice.  Inlaid rugs aren't anything particularly special, they're just a tufted broadloom carpet that gets cut and inlaid on a pattern to create a customized rug design.  Not only could you get a rug that's a particular color or is emblazoned with special designs, you could get an inlaid rug cut in almost any shape or size you could think of.
